Easy Dutch Apple Pie

Easy Dutch Apple Pie

Easy as pie...not a joke, but a secret! I use store-bought graham pie crust! Dutch Apple Pie has a crumbly streusel topping that is so yum and so easy to make. My kids love making this pie for family get togethers during the holiday season. It has been a delicious tradition for all to enjoy á la mode with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top! The only other apple pie I enjoy as much as this is the popular fast food chain's fried apple pie they served when I was a kid! Scroll down to see an easy video and my cute bakers!

Serves: 6 to 8, depending on the size of the slice you enjoy

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 1 hour 15 minutes

* 4 green apples, peeled and cut into 16 slices each

* 2 tablespoons water

* 1 cup (200 g) sugar

* 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

* 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

* 9 inch (23-cm) store bought graham pie crust

* 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour

* 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar

* 1 stick salted butter (1/2 cup), cold and sliced into thick slices

* Cinnamon to sprinkle on top

1. Preheat the oven to 425 F (220 C).

2. Place the sliced apples in a large bowl and sprinkle the water on them.

3. In a small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon and flour together. Pour it on top of the apples and use your hand to mix and coat the slices.

4. Dump the apples into the pie crust.

5. To make the topping, mix the flour and sugar together in a small bowl. Cut in the sliced butter with a pastry cutter, fork, potato masher, or your fingers. (This means breaking it into tiny pieces so it looks like small clumps of butter mixed with the flour and sugar). Evenly pour the topping on the apples.

6. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and bake for 15 minutes.

7. Lower the oven temperature to 325 F (165 C) and continue baking for 1 hour. Enjoy with a scoop of your favorite ice cream (I prefer vanilla)!
